Iona Brooch

The Iona Brooch depicts the galley of the Lords of the Isles, the iconic vessel of Scotland's Western Isles and a heraldic symbol long associated with Iona. This design originates with Alexander Ritchie, the silversmith who worked on Iona from the turn of the 20th century and spent four decades reviving Celtic metalwork traditions there. Rendered in sterling silver in shield form, the brooch shows the galley with three masts and crossed spars, flanked at top by a pair of sea creatures, with "IONA" inscribed on the hull. Measures 1 1/2" (38mm) tall by 1 1/16" (27mm) wide.

Jewelry Care

Store pieces in a clean, dry, closed location (jewelry box, bag, or pouch) to slow tarnishing and prevent scratches.

For sterling silver, lightly wipe with a polishing cloth like the Sunshine Polishing Cloth. For gold, use jewelry-cleaning solutions following manufacturer instructions.

Remove jewelry before swimming, sports, gardening, or using household chemicals. Apply lotions and perfumes before putting jewelry on, not after.
