Penannular Brooch with Gold
The penannular brooch is among the oldest functional forms in Celtic metalwork, serving as the primary garment fastener in early medieval Ireland and Scotland. This interpretation carries the complexity of the historical form: Celtic knotwork borders the entire ring, while the two lower terminal panels bear zoomorphic heron figures, their sinuous bodies woven into interlace in the manner of early Celtic manuscript illustration. The pin head carries the same zoomorphic treatment. Six raised medallion bosses in 14K rose gold are set along the lower arc, each bearing a Celtic cross motif that catches warm gold light against antiqued silver.
Both the front and back faces are carved with equal care, making this a fully finished piece from every angle. The large traditional pin slides through a tartan, plaid, or shawl and pivots to hold it securely in place.

After the first year, we still service every piece we've ever made; a small fee may apply depending on the repair. All work is done by our own jewelers in Andover, NY.

Store pieces in a clean, dry, closed location (jewelry box, bag, or pouch) to slow tarnishing and prevent scratches.
For sterling silver, lightly wipe with a polishing cloth like the Sunshine Polishing Cloth. For gold, use jewelry-cleaning solutions following manufacturer instructions.
Remove jewelry before swimming, sports, gardening, or using household chemicals. Apply lotions and perfumes before putting jewelry on, not after.
