Celtic Pennanular Brooch in Sterling Silver
The pennanular brooch is one of the oldest and most prestigious forms of Celtic dress jewelry, worn from the Iron Age through the medieval period to secure cloaks and mantles. Its defining form, an almost-complete ring with a long pin, has endured for more than two thousand years. This sterling silver example brings that ancient tradition forward with rich ornamental detail: Celtic knotwork bands the ring and zoomorphic heron figures are carved in relief on both faces. Measuring 4 inches pin-to-tip with a 3 1/8-inch ring diameter, it carries the presence of the original form while remaining a practical fastener for tartan or shawl.

Handcrafted in sterling silver at Walker Metalsmiths in Andover, NY. Original design by Stephen Walker. Decorated on both faces with Celtic knotwork and zoomorphic heron carvings. Pin length: 4" / 102mm. Ring diameter: 3 1/8" / 80mm.

1-year craftsmanship warranty on all Walker Metalsmiths jewelry. Within the first year, we cover manufacturing defects, prong checks, polishing, chain repairs, and normal-wear fixes at no charge.
After the first year, we still service every piece we've ever made; a small fee may apply depending on the repair. All work is done by our own jewelers in Andover, NY.
Not covered: damage from chemicals, chlorine, high-impact use, abusive wear, center-stone damage, or accidental loss.
Store pieces in a clean, dry, closed location (jewelry box, bag, or pouch) to slow tarnishing and prevent scratches.
For sterling silver, lightly wipe with a polishing cloth like the Sunshine Polishing Cloth. For gold, use jewelry-cleaning solutions following manufacturer instructions.
Remove jewelry before swimming, sports, gardening, or using household chemicals. Apply lotions and perfumes before putting jewelry on, not after.
