The ringed Irish and Scottish cross has been a distinctively Celtic symbol since ancient times in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and those parts of Britain influenced by the early Celtic Church. From the 5th century onward, ring or wheel headed crosses were carved on stone slabs and as free standing monuments. The circle is a symbolic halo and wreath, symbolizing the eternal presence of God's grace surrounding the historic symbol of Christ's sacrifice and victory over death. Walker Metalsmiths offers many designs of men's and women's Celtic crosses available in sterling silver or 14K gold.
