Silver Two Toned Inseparable Dogs Band
Not ever having written any books, apart from copying Biblical Gospels, the Celts developed ways of using visual symbols to tell a story. Accordingly, the components of this image, stylized dogs, are the vocabulary, and the way they are used becomes the grammar of the message. As symbols for the highest kind of love, the dogs here are tightly holding onto each other's bodies with their mouths, implying intimacy, with a mutually strong passion for remaining together.
In Celtic zoomorphic tradition, the dog carried layered meaning: loyalty and esteem, the ability to find truth through superior perception, and a healing quality the medieval world associated with the animal's nature.
