MacDurnan Ring in 14K Gold

This ring combines the classic Josephine's knot with what may appear to be a very modern geometric detail, but is actually a Celtic key pattern derived from the 9th century Irish manuscript, the Book of MacDurnan. Máel Brigte MacDurnan was abbot of Armagh in the year 888 AD. The medieval manuscript bearing his name was commissioned by him in the late 9th century in the classic Insular/Celtic style. The abbot and his book are the only surviving references to the name MacDurnan.

The key pattern is angular and rectilinear where the knotwork is curved and flowing, two different geometries, each tracing its own unbroken path around the 9mm band.

Jewelry Care

Store pieces in a clean, dry, closed location (jewelry box, bag, or pouch) to slow tarnishing and prevent scratches.

For sterling silver, lightly wipe with a polishing cloth like the Sunshine Polishing Cloth. For gold, use jewelry-cleaning solutions following manufacturer instructions.

Remove jewelry before swimming, sports, gardening, or using household chemicals. Apply lotions and perfumes before putting jewelry on, not after.
