St. Brigid Medal
Saint Brigid, known as Mary of the Gael, was born in the mid-5th century and became one of Ireland's three patron saints. According to tradition, as her father lay dying, Brigid sat by him in prayer, weaving the first St. Brigid's cross from rushes strewn on the floor. This medal captures her in a sculpted portrait: flowing hair crowned with Celtic knotwork, holding a small cross. The reverse is carved with a St. Brigid's cross and the inscription "Saint Brigid."
Measures 1 1/4" x 5/8" (32mm x 16mm).
