The St. Brigid's Flower Cross in Sterling Silver
Named for Saint Brigid (Mary of the Gael), born in the mid-5th century. The legend goes that before her father's death, Brigid sat by him in prayer, whiling away the time by weaving the first Saint Brigid cross from the rushes strewn about the floor. This cross combines the traditional shape of the reed cross with another lesser known, but no less beautiful, symbol of St. Brigid: the St. Brigid's Flower. The twisted rush arms and central blossom are rendered in three dimensions, with leaves winding along each arm.
